About the race

SIKU EXTREME ARCTIC CHALLENGE is an annual adventure race held on Ammassalik Island in East Greenland, and is by any standards a tough race.

The race is a combination of a stage and an expedition race. First 3 days are stage days and the last two days are the expedition part.

SIKU EXTREME ARCTIC CHALLENGE is a No-Nonsense-Race incorporating traditional AR venues, with a focus on orienteering.

Ammassalik Island is the perfect AR environment providing an ample amount of challenges making it unnecessary for us to incorporate mystery events, or waking you up in the middle of the night.... just because.
Routes and venues are constantly adjusted, and every year SIKU EXTREME ARCTIC CHALLENGE is a bit different from the year before.

The well-being of the participating team is highly important. The lengths of the stage days are planned so the teams have a fair chance of restitution. The expedition part excepted.

This is the Arctic and only a limited number of entries will be accepted to ensure the quality and safety of the race and to minimise ecological impact. For SIKU EXTREME ARCTIC CHALLENGE 2007 the number will be 15 teams. Entry reservation will be awarded on a first-come first-served basis to qualified teams.

The entry fee for one team is 5,920 EUR and covers the airfare from Iceland to East Greenland, transportation by speedboats to Ammassalik Island, accommodation and food.
Our chef and kitchen staff provides the teams with an extraordinary good breakfast and evening buffet.

Canoes, tents and Greenlandic barbecue (in the Basecamp) are provided by the race organisation.
