Article VI - Equipment
A. Overview
The primary purpose of this equipment list is to identify mandatory equipment that all teams and participants will be required
to carry for purpose of safety and emergency management. It is expected that participants already have appropriate
knowledge regarding the use and selection of all equipment, whether mandatory or not. Race management reserves the right
to request spot checks for mandatory gear at any time of the race. Teams unable to produce mandatory equipment during a
spot check will result in time penalties, depending of the severity of the violation.
NOTE : The following lists describe is the mandatory minimum equipment required for participation in this event. Please don't
assume that this minimum implies that these are the only things that you are allowed to carry with you. On the contrary, we
expect you to rely on your own good judgement, knowledge and experience to provide additional equipment that will make
your racing experience more successful.
B. Team Equipment Provided by Racing Organisation
Teams may not substitute their own equipment in this list.

Inflatable canoes.
Transportation bag (for the team canoe.)
Base camp tents
C. Personal Mandatory Equipment
Equipment on this side must be carried by each racer during the race.
Safety and Miscellaneous Gear
Whistle ( waterproof sound mechanism recommended )
Knife with fixed or locking blade
Sunglasses with UV-protection
Personal first aid kit – including band aids, blisterdressings and wound dressings
Water bottles or bladder with minimum 1. Litre capacity
Two full-sized, heavy duty plastic bags (additional emergency shelter)
Two ziplock storage bags (waste containment)
Race bibs, to be worn by each racer as outer clothing layer at all times (provided by race management)
Clothing
Lightweight shirt and pants (synthetic recommended but nor required)
Lightweight or middleweight synthetic long underwear (no cotton)
Middleweight or heavyweight fleece insulating top (no cotton)
Shell jacket (waterproof) and pants (water resistant)
Warm gloves (synthetic or wool)
Warm hat (synthetic or wool)
Durable but lightweight hiking shoos or boots
Extra socks (3 pair including those worn)
Neoprene socks
Life jacket
D. Team Mandatory Equipment to be carried at all times
Equipment on this list must be carried by the team at all times but may be distributed among any number of racers on the
team.
2 strobelights (i.e. Perincetontec aquastrobe)
Two compasses (carried by separated individuals )
One GPS
One detailed map over the area 1:100.000 (provided by the race management)
One map replicates with marked checkpoints. (provided by the race management)
Ziplock freezer bags or other means of storage for course maps
E. Personal Mandatory Venue-Specific Equipment
Equipment on this list must be carried by each racer during the appropriate venue :
Mountain Biking Venues
Mountain bike
Climbing or biking helmet with chin strap
Glacier Trekking Venues
Cramps fit to boots. Recommended 4-8 points, “fusseisen type.
One ice axe
One climbing or biking helmet with chin strap
One harness
One locking carabin
Two ordinary carabiners
Two Prussiks or Jumars
Canoe Venues
One wet suit Long john type min 3mms thick.
One life west
One dry-bag, keeping packed gear dry and buoyant on the fjord
F. Team Venue-Specific Equipment
Equipment on this list must be carried by the team during the appropriate venue but may be distributed amongany number of racers on the team:
Mountain Biking Venues
Bicycle tire repair kit including pump
Bicycle repair tools
NOTE: It's not possible to buy spare parts in Tasiilaq
Glacier Trekking Venue
One 45 meter 8 mm. Climbing rope
Mountain Trekking.
4 Waterproof storm shelters/bivybags or 2 bivybags large enough for 2 persons each
Four sleeping bags pr. Team Minimum weight 500 grs/bag
Four closed cell foam sleeping pads minimum size 50cmx150cmx5mm
G. Forbidden Equipment
Equipment on this list MAY NOT be carried by the team's racers at ANY time during the race. Possessions or use of this
equipment will result in immediate disqualification of the team from competition. This list is only representative and is not
necessarily a comprehensive list of forbidden items.
Weapons
Any mode of transportation other than those authorised by the race management and the specific approved venues
